SWIM IN THE WILD
Swim in the Wild is N.C. Adventure Alternative. A Sound that was born in the Rock & Rollin' Plains that spreads an East Coast Vibe to the Appalachian Folk. For Fans of Kings of Leon, Taking Back Sunday, and the Avett Brothers. Native to Greensboro, Local to Charlotte, and very fond of Charleston, this band of life long buddies and brothers are known for their high energy live performances and big song writing. A trade off to a modern rock show with big melodies, switching instruments, and spastic dance moves.
Since their self titled EP made its splash in 2013, SITW has played venues and festivals all over the Southeast US. After touring nearly 120+ shows in 2015, the boys spread their Wild to the west with their debut at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Their sophomore album and highly anticipated LP is scheduled to release 6/3/16 at Visulite Theatre. SITW continues to dedicate their existence to the life raft that is their Swimteam: The best friends, family, and fans that any dudes who love playing music could ever ask for.
Notable appearances at Sundance Film Festival, High Country Heroes Music Series, Lowes Motor Speedway, Charleston Bridge Run, Treefest, Shakedown Music Festival, Grover Fest. Balcony TV, Southern Charm, and Airwaves all over NC/SC.
LATE NIGHT SPECIAL
Late Night Special is a Soul driven Rock factory blending the sounds of old and new to bring you modern music magic. NC based rock n soul, to be exact. Busy and well received in the NC/SC bar scene, you can find Late Night Special anywhere that rock n roll is being sold, but this group is no sell out. Look for their undeniable sound on the tunes they play. Alert the Soul patrol, Late Night Special will have some Southern fun as they bring their feel to the songs you know and love.
LUKE MEARS BAND
Luke Mears and his guys are well versed in those Southern trimmings. From Blues to Folk, they cover their bases, and with style. Luke, born and raised in Elkin, begin playing guitar when he was 11, and began writing songs shortly after. His style harkens back to the past, but always in a positive nature. Backed by fiddle virtuoso Russell McCumber & innovated percussionist Cory Myers, they'll bring the soul you wanna feel.
Tyler Hatley is a song craftsman, and a good one at that. His turn of phrase builds a background for his stories to be told. A perfect fit for our "Southern State of Mind" kick-off party, you'll hear him twangin' and sangin' with a special guest on some original tunes and on a few songs from a Southern music favorite.
RMF '17 Saturday Line-up - August 5th
Corey Hunt Band
The Corey Hunt Band hails from Asheboro, North Carolina, but more and more their music is taking them across the country on tour and into the ears of listeners around the world. They’ve found especially fertile ground for their sound – original country music shot through with acoustic folk and rock & roll attitude – in and around the state of Texas, where their approach fits in squarely with the tradition of regional favorites like Reckless Kelly, Jack Ingram, and The Randy Rogers Band. Along with right-hand-man bandmate Eric Wise, Hunt has scored success on the iTunes Country Album Chart, mingling with mainstream stars and legends in the Top 100 (rising as high as #71) upon the release of their new album The Tower. “People ask when we’re gonna make it/well the truth is we already have,” the title song insists; for starters, the lead-off single “Hannah Belle” cracked the Top 50 on the Texas Regional Radio Report chart and their follow up "Explain" creeped into the top 40. Hunt’s songwriting ranges from sincere romanticism to outlaw rebellion, and their do-it-yourself approach to booking, recording, and gigging has given them the freedom to explore and expand their music as they grow. With room to grow and momentum on their side, their crowd-pleasing and relatable take on modern roots music is poised for bigger and better things every time they hit the stage or the studio.
